Undated 6 Month Calendar
This means you can start anytime you want, not just at the start of the new year or school year. Start in January or September without worrying about wasted pages (and money) on a fixed date planner.
An undated planner also means you can skip a week (or a month) easily if you need to when life gets too busy, and again, without feeling like you wastred or ruined your planner.
It’s also only 6 months, which is great for two reasons. One, it’s not as big of a committment when you’re just starting out, which may make it easier to get started. Two, you get that “new planner feeling” twice a year instead of just once, which is more likely to keep you motivated and actually using it.
Practical Weekly Layout
The Purpose Planner uses a vertical weekly calendar layout spread over two pages, so there’s plenty of room for all your things. The hours go from 6am-6pm, which is much more functional for moms than the typical 9-5 work day planners I’ve seen.
But we all know our days can start much earlier than 6am (anyone else have a kiddo who loves the 5am hour like mine?!) and can go much later than 6pm.
This nifty little planner covers this by having an AM focus and a PM focus section for each day in case you need to extend your schedule. I personally like to use this as a mini to-do list to prioritize what I need to accomplish in the first half and second half of my day. But I’ve also used to when I have a super busy day and just need more lines for appointments.

This is where my productivity nerd side thrives. I LOVE a good tracker and The Purpose Planner delivers with an open-ended weekly habit tracker. Pick the day of the week you start on, write in up to seven habits you want to focus on that week, and check them off as you crush you goals!
There’s just something satisfyingly motivating about getting checking it off that makes me stick to my habits better. And as a busy working stay at home mom, I really need the motivation of a tracker but I need it to be easy to use, too.
Other planners I’ve used have set habits, but with this planner you can add or remove easily from week to week because you are the one writing them in. It’s so easy to tweak it for what works best for you!
Weekly Notes Section
Each weekly layout has a box with dotted graph paper for notes, ideas, reminders, acts of kindness, and memories. It is totally open-ended to use however you need and it is my most used and most loved section of the whole planner.
When I first started using The Purpose Planner before I was a mama, I used this section to write down a short daily highlights to help me keep a more positive mindset and remember the everyday good things that are really what make life meaningful. I loved looking back at the end of the week or month on all the sweet little memories I’d captured in a quick sentence.
Now that I’m a mom, I use this section to write down daily memories, whether it was a big milestone or just a sweet snuggly moment. Going back and reading all of these moments makes my heart so happy and is worth every penny of this planner to help me keep that habit up. I also hope it’s something I can share with my girls one day so they can see how amazing and loved they are.
Categorized To-Do List
I live for a good to-do list. I have always been an old-school-pen-and-paper-check-it-off kind of to-do lister and The Purpose Planner hits the mark for me.
Each weekly layout has SIX different lists, and for those of you who may be thinking that’s too many, I promise you it isn’t and helps so much. The six categories are: Work & Career, Home & Admin, Projects & Passions, Friends & Networks, To Buy, and NOT-To-Do.
I love that I can split up my work role, homemaker role, and personal role into different areas instead of having one big overwhelming to-do list that is too intimidating to tackle. Or having so many pieces of paper with different categories of lists that I keep losing. Now they’re all in one place for me so I can stay on track.
The other thing I appreciate is the Friends & Network section. It’s so easy for us mamas to get caught up and forget we still need friendship and connection outside the home. I know I can’t be the only one who keeps saying “we need to catch up” and then totally forgets to follow up! Instead, I use this section to write down a friend I want to connect with that week, whether is a quick text, call, or even meeting up with them.
Weekly Health & Gratitude Section
This is the best section to keep you on track with your fitness goals or a gratitude journaling habit.
There’s a small box for each day of the week (again open-ended for you to write in your own days) where you can track your fitness habits, write in a workout plan, or write down a short daily gratitude.
Since I use my Notes section for a gratitude/memory space, I use this section to track my physical activity. Yes, I know there is an app that literally lays out this exact data for me but I’ve found that physically writing it down in my planner helps me be more accountable. It makes me be more intentional about reviewing my data on a daily basis to help me hit my goals.
Meal Planning Layout
Each day on the The Purpose Planner’s weekly layout has a small box for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. I’ve used this two ways – as a food tracker and a meal planner.
I don’t always have the best will power around food, so using this section as a food tracker really helps me be accountable with my health. I’ve also used it as a food tracker when I first started breastfeeding both of my babies to see if there were any patterns between what I was eating and their gassy bellies.
I know I’m not the only one who dreads the “what’s for …” question every. single. mealtime. so using this section as a meal planner has really helped. Especially when my babies started eating solids and I had to come up with 3 meals a day instead of just dinner for my husband and I. It also seriously helped us save money on groceries to plan out our shopping based on what was on sale and what we wanted to eat that week.
Monthly Calendar Layout
The Purpose Planner’s two-page monthly layout has such a cool and practical design! It has an undated monthly calendar you fill in and boxes to add any important dates or events.
All around the monthly calendar are little dot grid boxes for different goals and reflections to write in for the month. There are boxes for memories, accomplishments, things you want to do better at, categorized to-dos and goals, and things you learned.
I use this section at the beginning, end, and all through the month to see the whole month at a glance. I start by planning out my events and appointments for the month and any monthly goals or to-dos I have. I check in weekly to fill in any details or make changes, and then end the month with some reflection time to see how it went and do a progress update for myself.
Doing a monthly check-in has been such a help for staying on top of my goals and making real progress. It lets me have a better idea of what my action steps this month are, where I’m at in the process, and what will be the best next steps for me to take the next month. Having to check in also holds me accountable because I hate having leaving things undone.
Roles & Goals
I’ve done lots of goal setting before – heck my whole career has been focused on helping people identify and achieve their goals! But the way The Purpose Planner does goal setting is so intentional and truly helps you create a clear, bite-sized action plan that you can actually use.
At the beginning of each Purpose Planner, there are few pages where you write out the roles that define your life, like mom, wife, homemaker, career woman, and just plain wonderful you!
Then, for each role, you write out why this role is important in your life, what goals within that role you want to accomplish in the next six months, and what specific monthly, weekly, and daily tasks you can do to accomplish this goal.
